Little Duckie's 21st BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

This Wednesday, the 28th of August, was not only my little Duckie's 21st birthday, but it also marks the anniversary of us meeting!

This explains not only the night, but our friendship!  Haha!  Me (on the right) the whole night - "Hold on Joanna, Let me get a picture of this!! Oh, and by the way this was a picture of her taking a sip of her first legal drink. She is just growing up so fast!  She has come so far!
Her other best friend, Lilly, planned a huge dinner for her at a local Mexican restaurant in Greensboro, and I drove there with her lovely list of 21 things to-do on her 21st birthday!
Another one of her friends made her this delicious cake that Joanna had to live up to. Her "GET TRASHED!"  cake.
Drink Up, Jo Jo Bear!
What all of you all might be wondering is, "What is all of this talk about a 21 things to-do on your 21st list?"  What some people do for their friends on their 21st birthday is provide a large poster board, normally in the shape of a 21 with a OUTRAGEOUS list of things to do. (what I put on there is listed below, with pictures, for some.  Feel free to take ideas from it.)  Below is a before picture of the "21" sign, before I put glitter everywhere and before Jo took it and got raunchy.  ;)

At the end of this blog you will see the finished/glitterfied/checked off poster!  I have seen other photos of this list in the form of a crown or just a plain poster board, and normally has a feather boa attached to it, to act as a necklace...but I don't have a Michaels near me :( sad day for a crafter.  Joanna just put the whole thing around her neck!  But, let me give you a list of what was on the list I made for BIG BOOTY JO!

My Southern, Sweet and Sexy Bridal Shower!

Hello Everyone!!

This past Saturday was my lovely bridal shower; thrown by my wonderful Maid of Honor and fantastic bridesmaids!

My Outfit:
- Dress, Forever21 ($20)
- Cardigan, Forever21 (over 3 years old)
- Watch, Target ($18)

It was a southern, sweet and sexy theme!  All of my beautiful and amazing guests had to wear pastel dresses/skirts, all of the food was sweet things (such as yummy cupcakes, cookies, etc) and everything paired deliciously with our southern sweet tea and lemonade!

But, I wanted to share photos from this event to give you all ideas!  I am so blessed to have such caring friends and family around me!  This event was so fantastic and full of such love and happiness!

The centerpiece for the main table.

The little white bucket in the middle of the table is something that is a super cute idea I forwarded to my ladies!  What you do, is get a mason jar, the cute bucket, a cute little holder that will hold all of the wide tongue depressors.  Then get each lady at the bridal shower to write down future date ideas for you and your future husband.  The fun part about it (what you should do) is not look at them at all until you pull them out for your date!
But for the sake of this wonderful blog, below is an up-close look at these date ideas!

These three date ideas are as follows:
1) Take a trip to NYC and look at the skyline from the Stevens U. Campus! <3 Carrie
2) Go buy tacky clothes at Goodwill and dress each other for a dinner date.
3) WET n' WILD!

100th Anniversary for Mason Jars; so they come Blue! and these AWESOME straws I saw on Pinterest, that I really wanted! :)

Card Bucket!
When designing a cute atmosphere one of the things that my ladies did, is made sure that there were little trinkets everywhere.  Above, is a cute tiffany's colored luggage box (for the cards and pictures) and next to it was a bird cage with random note cards for anything, and surrounded with beautiful flowers.  Small, yet a cute and important impact!

A cute little "Photo Booth" area in the next room!
A little Photo Booth action with my future Mother in Law!

My Maid of Honors Momma, Me, and Adam's Momma!

NOW! Let's get this PARTAY started!
The first photo is of me with my "Getting Hitched" sign! From my bridal shower, only 21 days! But, now, its only 17 days away! Can you believe it?
Time goes by so fast!

Below are some of the gifts that I received as the soon to be Mrs. and how to captivate my future husband in different ways! ;)
21 DAYS UNTIL CASSIE'S HITCHED!

My first pair of candy undies!

Oh my goodness, ironically this was the first gift I opened and I turned BRIGHT RED! It was so funny and brought so much laughter!  I loved it!  Although, because Adam's mom was there, I was not going to be too forward, but then BAM, she started cracking jokes, like "Adam does have a sweet tooth."

My first apron!
This will interest my hubby-to-be because he just LOVES my cooking!  Not saying I'm going to be a Housewife (which I would be fine with), but my role as a wife is to make my husband happy, and as the old saying goes: "The way to a man's heart is through is stomach."  So, it is safe to say that Adam loved this gift :) Thanks, Carrie!

In this photo I was crying and trying to dry away my tears with what made me start this lovely, tear jerker.  A good friend of mine, Kim wrote something that just tugged at my heart strings and I just couldn't stop.

The reason why, is because one of the things that each lady did when they came to the bridal shower, was bring their favorite picture of themselves with me, and write down their favorite memory of us.  This is something I truly loved.  I got to see so many photos with these lovely ladies, and I got to experience our wonderful memories all over again.

Adam's Momma and Me!
One of the activities that was continued throughout the party as a whole was the "Save the Date" Game.  I had purchased my FAVORITE Lilly Agenda and brought it to the shower.  Knowing that the married life is not only that of a difficult, yet beautiful journey, it also sometimes makes it difficult for you to always keep up with friends and make sure that you still have your girl time!

Having this agenda be new and open provided open dates for my ladies and I to still have our bonding time after the wedding!  They would choose 2 or 3 dates throughout the year that we both would have to keep!  It's a wonderful and polite way of saying "HEY! This date is mine!" (with the exception Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc)

My Lilly!

2 of my Girly dates!

The dates above are:
1) December 14th - A Raleigh or Charlotte date with Jo Jo Bear (one of my bridesmaids and best friends)
2) December 20th - Come over for Christmas movies - With Cara (my beautiful friend, whose husband is a groomsman!)

We played other games throughout the party and snacked and talked all the time!

Introduction of my BEAUTIFUL Bridal Party!

My Wonderful Maid of Honor and Myself!

My Little Duckie, Joanna!

Sexy Mamasita, Kalen!!

The beautiful Meredith!

The Bridal Shower was such a wonderful time!  I am so happy I got to spend it with such loving people!  I hope you get ideas, follow ideas, pin ideas, share ideas, and create your dream day!

XOXO,

Cassie

REVIEW - Zesty Lime Shrimp and Avocado Salad

HAPPY HUMP DAY Y'ALL!

What day is it?? Hump Day! Psstttt, what day is it? HUMP DAY!

Alright, you guys, I hope that put a smile on your face!  Well, as I told you I am posting more often, with a lot more happiness, a lot more random things, a lot more messes that need to be blessed in this beautiful thing we call life!

Yesterday evening, I came across a fabulous recipe that I knew that would be a hit at home.  Having a place to your own, bills to pay, necessities to purchase, and only cooking for two, so we are not trying to spend a lot of money, or have any food go to waste. I know A LOT of you are the same way!  SAVE MONEY!

So, reviewing this recipe that Gina's Skinny Recipes provided, I took some of the ingredients (which is a very short list as it is) and make it cheaper for those of us, who can't always get the freshest, most expensive ingredients.

This salad, is very delicate, and fresh, and I like to think of it as a good Summer Salad.  The fact that it has very few (healthy and delicious) ingredients, makes this tasty summer entree's prep, very easy.  Alright, y'all I am going to get a goin' with the recipe and my thoughts in ORANGE!

Zesty Lime Shrimp and Avocado Salad

Servings: 4  *Servings: 2.5 (Adam ate a little more than half and I ate the rest)

  • 1 lb jumbo cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined, chopped* (price can range from $10 to $15) Also, take into consideration that when you buy the jumbo, not pre-everything, you need to add time to your prep.  I bought a bag of pre-cooked, peeled, deveined, shrimp.  I didn't buy JUMBO, but it wasn't the end of the world and I preferred the smaller shrimp.  ($5)  Also, take into consideration that when you buy the jumbo, not pre-everything, you need to add time to your prep.
  • 1 medium tomato, diced - Adam and I do not like, what we call "boogers" in the tomatoes, so I just diced up the tomato, cut out the boogers and still had a very large amount!
  • 1 hass avocado, diced - I dont know what type of avocado I purchased, but it was $0.68 cents.
  • 1 jalapeno, seeds removed, diced fine - this cost about $0.28 cents/per jalapeño
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 2 limes, juice of - I didn't have fresh limes, but I always keep lime juice in the fridge!  It is 2 Tbls per lime, equalling a total of 4 Tbls for this recipe.
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro - This recipe calls for fresh cilantro, which can range from $3 to $5 per 16 grams, and fresh cilantro can go bad if not properly taken care of.  So, I just used the cilantro from my spice rack that Adam and I got as a gift for the wedding.
  • salt and fresh pepper to taste - literally a pinch was perfect!

  1. In a small bowl combine red onion, lime juice, olive oil, pinch of salt and pepper. Let them marinate at least 5 minutes to mellow the flavor of the onion. - I stirred these ingredient a couple times while it marinated!  I did let it marinate for 5 minutes, but I do wish that I let it marinate longer.
  2. In a large bowl combine chopped shrimp, avocado, tomato, jalapeño. Combine all the ingredients together, add cilantro and gently toss. Adjust salt and pepper to taste. - The first two pictures is what my Zesty Salad  looked like, and below it is the picture from the website.

In the mixing bowl, before serving!

Dinner is served!

This is Gina's picture from the website.

All in all, this was a wonderful recipe!  Nothing was off taste, everything was great and I was a very pleased cook, and consumer!  This tasty treat will be a familiar meal in your home, and it can be transformed into many different types of meals, snacks, and more!  As you know, this first time, we ate it just plain, as a salad, but when Adam was half way through, his creative self got up, opened the cupboard, got out the tortilla wraps, and put it in that, and LOVED it! Then, he said he thought it would be a tastier, bigger entree, on top of some quinoa!

Hope you all make this soon!

Stay healthy, stay beautiful!  And you ALL are beautiful!

XOXO,

Cassie
